Five9 Summer Intern Spotlight Series: Charlotte Glass

In celebration of National Intern Day on July 28th, we wanted to highlight some of our incredible interns, like Charlotte Glass, and the experiences they’re having at Five9.  

Charlotte Glass is a University of California Santa Barbara student who joined Five9 as this summer’s Creative Coordinator Intern. As the Creative Coordinator Intern, Charlotte streamlines communication between departments that submit creative requests and works with the creative department to execute these projects using graphic design, writing, or videography.  

“I think that this work fulfills a vital need for creative coordination – Sarah [Charlotte’s mentor] and I ensure that Five9 is equipped with top-tier content that plays a crucial role in creating brand awareness and identity.”  

Charlotte and the creative team work together to successfully convey Five9’s brand image in many creative ways. Charlotte’s work with the Five9 creative team has allowed her to gain a deeper understanding of organizational communication and culture, which she believes will carry beyond this summer and across all future career opportunities. Her overarching takeaway, however, has been the importance of engagement and the impact it can have on your learning.  

“The people at Five9 encourage you to ask questions, share ideas, get involved, and connect with the people around you. I think this imparts a really powerful sense of agency over your career, which empowers you to develop both it and yourself in the direction that you aspire towards.”  

Encouragement and contribution are pillars of both the program and the company as a whole. By providing a welcoming space for learning through engagement, Five9 has encouraged the growth of many astute interns like Charlotte. Beyond the encouragement to learn, Charlotte further emphasized that the people of Five9 have been a hallmark of her experience at Five9 and have made it a great place to work.  

“People here demonstrate their interest in getting to know you as a person, how you operate, and what you aspire to achieve in life, not just career,” said Charlotte. “They want to talk to you as a friend and hear your input as a colleague.”  

Whether interns are working remotely or in-person, all interns have had the opportunity to experience the gracious culture of Five9 through speaking with people from all corners of the company. The Five9 team and the internship program cultivate a positive experience beyond providing meaningful work by building supportive relationships.  

“I immediately felt uplifted by my interviewers, my mentor, my team, my intern buddy, and honestly, anyone within Five9 that I have encountered. The time and attention employees give you communicates a very clear message to interns: you have value.”
