When we think of hackers, our minds typically go to Hollywood visions of someone typing away at a keyboard trying to gain access to a company’s sensitive information. While there are some attack vectors that would look closer to that, the most common way for data breaches to occur is through compromised credentials – someone gets access to an employee’s username and password. With the newest release of Five9 Identity Service, now in Controlled Availability, Five9 is doing more to keep you and your business safe.

Five9 Identity Service: Secure, Seamless, and Smart Access for All Five9 Users

With this update to FIS, we are expanding some of the safeguards previously only available to Administrators to all Five9 users. Upon updating to the newest release, all core platform users will have access to secure ways of logging in, including single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA). Using SSO means that users have fewer passwords to remember and the ability for your organization to easily manage your users’ authentication experience. With this new release, you can use the same Identity Provider across multiple Five9 domains.

If SSO is not an option, administrators can enable MFA for any approved factors (email, SMS, and/or mobile authenticator) on a per user basis as an extra layer of defense. In fact, we would recommend at a minimum enabling MFA for any Administrator user who is not authenticating via SSO.

Beyond these enhancements, Admins will also have the ability to start tracking some basic user authentication information. This allows Admins to see when the last time was that a user changed their password, as well as if they have MFA factors set up (and which ones). We will continue to enhance these log in capabilities to allow Admins access to even more authentication information over time.
